About the Role

Barstool Sports is looking for a Senior VP of Technology to join the team. This candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and vision to drive the technology initiatives for Barstool Sports. This candidate will oversee the development, implementation, and management of the company's technology infrastructure, systems, and applications to support business operations, enhance efficiency, and drive innovation. This candidate will be overseeing Business Systems, Data Engineering, IT, Product, and Engineering departments . The ideal candidate has worked in fast-paced, constantly changing environments and adapts well in ambiguous circumstances. The ideal candidate will have previous experience leading operational excellence of a technology team while instilling a customer centric focus in all aspects of the technology team's initiatives.


What You'll Do:

  • Establish the strategic direction and roadmap of the company's technology systems; executes this strategy in collaboration with company leadership.
  • Drive operational excellence within the department through a highly disciplined focus on process, metrics, and accountability for technology reliability.
  • Partner with business unit leaders to understand their key goals and strategies and identify opportunities where technology can help them achieve those objectives.
  • Identify and recommend new technologies and services that will improve efficiency, processes, and operations; review requests for additional services and upgrades, assessing the costs and benefits to the organization.
  • Serve as the technical leader responsible for the organization's network engineering, tech ops, workplace services, executive IT support, IT security, and corporate systems. This leader must ensure the delivery of critical business services and have processes for detection of potential risks/outages. This includes technology infrastructure, core systems and applications supporting the business, as well as technology support services for all employees including executive leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the Product and Engineering teams; champion strong product management and product marketing principles aimed at upleveling the Product team.
  • Assess and identify skill gaps and areas of opportunity within the team and business.
  • Shape strategy and transform Barstool Sports' future vision into an actionable product roadmap, empowering product lieutenants to effectively execute and drive success.
  • Establish and update all IT related policies and procedures, including but not limited to, those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, compliance, standards and service
  • Monitor and report progress on development projects, resource utilization, and production performance to executive leadership.
  • Build strong relationships with vendors, partners, and customers to ensure the success of our technology initiatives

What You Have:

  • World class technologist and product leader with a superior track record of facilitating product led growth
  • At least ten years of experience in a technical role, with a demonstrable track record as a successful leader for managers of managers, and as the leader of an Engineering organization driving significant impact.
  • Proven ability to build a scalable technology organization by attracting, retaining, developing, managing and inspiring product and engineering teams. Excellent technology skills in the following areas- software design, software as a service, cybersecurity, digital technology solutions and enterprise business transformation.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of how to translate product and business goals into tech strategies
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, both with external/internal business partners and colleagues, where results are achieved through influence and the incorporation of many points of view.
  • Proven experience articulating and communicating the technology organization's development plans and capabilities, research and development expenditures, product status, and overall goals to the company's Board of Directors, investors, and other stakeholders as a critical member of the executive leadership team.

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)

Pay Range: $300,000-$350,000
