About this role
BT are recruiting for a Senior Transformation Manager, Group Reporting & Assurance on a 12 Month fixed term basis. This role can be based either in our London or Bristol office offering flexible hybrid working.

The Group Reporting & Assurance team’s purpose is to enable the delivery of the pan-BT Transformation portfolio across the entire group, ensuring that our Group strategy is at the heart of all delivery. Working in collaboration with our senior leaders, we are responsible for the performance management of the Transformation portfolio across all our business units. Through the provision of data driven insight and tactical interventions at both a portfolio and programme level, we enable informed decision making to ensure BT meet our strategic objectives and public commitment to successfully transform the business.


We act as the custodians of Transformation across all of BT, acting as the bridge to align the strategic aims of the Group with the goals and delivery plans of all our business units. We are responsible for the setting of the overall Group Transformation Plan (committing to billions of transformational savings over a 5-year period) and ensuring that this is delivered. We ensure sustainable performance by the establishment and tracking of operational and financial metrics, with regular access to the BT Group Executive and Board via monthly reporting and recurring deep dives to provide assurance and to agree and deliver strategic interventions where required.

Key responsibilities
  • Directly responsible for setting an ambitious deliverable Transformation plan across BT, allowing us to drive quality outcomes for the business and our customers
  • Lead the analysis of in-life performance data across the Group, identifying key trends and areas for improvement in order to drive actionable change
  • Develop data-driven recommendations for new programmes or tactical interventions, and work collaboratively to implement these across the business
  • Provide assurance as to the status of the overall transformation portfolio, providing recommendations on prioritisation and interventions required to deliver the strategic outcomes
  • Establishment of a Groupwide Transformation Office, including the design and implementation of the strategic roadmap, reporting metrics and provision of programme assurance
  • Provision of ad-hoc in-depth support to key programmes across the breadth of the transformational portfolio to assist in delivery
  • Performance management of the Group transformation portfolio
  • Establish and track operational and financial metrics to ensure that we are delivering sustainable transformation
  • Regularly communication with senior stakeholders, both directly and via governance materials (including Group Executive and Board), to give an overview on current performance, escalation of issues and removal of blockers to drive transformational change
  • Work across BT, leading the development of plans to ensure that our goals are delivered
  • Collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders to deliver world-class colleague and customer outcomes
  • Manage direct reports and provide coaching to the wider team, as it continues to scale over time
Key skills required
  • Using data to drive transformation and business change
  • Design, mobilisation and operation of a Transformation office
  • Portfolio management and reporting, with a track record of successful delivery of strategic outcomes
  • Conducting of root cause analysis to identify key programme issues, and develop recover plans
  • Development of a strategic roadmap, with critical path and dependency management
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and understanding of hypothesis-testing
  • Financial proficiency, producing analysis and insight from financial performance data
  • Worked in a transformation / change environment where there may be ambiguity
  • Understand how operational and financial metrics can be used to determine business performance and drive change
  • Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver change
  • Performance management or analysis within a complex environment
  • Managing direct reports, with a track record of developing and coaching talent
