Title of post: Senior Theatre Technician
Responsible to: Technical Manager
Responsible for: Casual, Part-Time and volunteer Technical Department staff
Salary: £22,000 to £23,500 (full time (40hrs p/w) equivalent pay) dependent on experience
Hours of work: 25 hours per week (flexible due to nature of the role)

Job Overview: We are looking to recruit a Senior (Part Time) Technician, who has the relevant experience and qualifications, to ensure the smooth running and operation of events at the Ludlow Assembly Rooms and to deliver excellent technical support services to private hire clients of the venue.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production
- To be the first point of call for any Technical Department requirements in the absence of the Technical Manager
- To provide technical support for performances and events both in the theatre and outside coordinating additional workforce and equipment as required.
- To provide technical support and be responsible for all flying and rigging
- To maintain records and report where necessary to the Technical Manager
- To assist and manage the technical team and volunteers
- To promote good working practices within the Department
Building
- To undertake building management duties as required including Health and Safety administration
- To be familiar with, and comply with current Health & Safety regulations relevant to the industry and to keep abreast of any changes
General
- To understand and adhere to all LAR policies and regulations and ensure that the security of the building is maintained at all times, to include lock up duties
- To undertake other tasks as reasonably requested to ensure that LAR operates as an effective sustainable venue.
PERSON SPECIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:
Audio
Essential:
- Knowledge of digital & analogue desks & radio microphones
- Experience of operating theatre productions, small bands and presentations
- Ability to rig sound systems and eliminate feedback.
Desirable:
- Experience of Q-Lab or equivalent playout systems
- Experience of basic sound design using Pro-Tools, Ableton Live, sound effect libraries, etc
Lighting
Essential:
- Experience of rigging & operating generic theatre lighting.
- Basic knowledge of the ETC ION, such as recording subs and cues.
Desirable:
- Experience of rigging & operating theatre moving lights.
- Knowledge of LED fixtures
- Advanced knowledge of the ETC ION, for full plotting and show lighting design.
Staging
Essential
- Understanding of theatrical rigging and staging techniques and terminology.
Desirable
- Experience of building staging, set and scenery.
Cinema Operations
Desirable:
- Experience in cinematic operations
- Knowledge of building the cinema show file, such as DCP Ingest and booking to DCM
- Knowledge of cinematic aspect ratios, surround sound systems and other specifics
ESSENTIAL GENERAL SKILLS
- Excellent team worker/leader
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows software including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience of client communication and planning in advance preparation of events
- Knowledge of industry health and safety standards and practices
