We are currently recruiting for a Senior Technical Manager (Manufacturing) within our Muller Milk and Ingredients Business Unit. The Successful candidate will Lead the Quality function for operations, delivering the MMI Quality strategy into the manufacturing facilities, while developing and implementing quality and cultural performance improvements in line with the MMI Manufacturing & Group Quality strategies delivering continuous and sustainable improvement in quality performance.

As a key member of the Technical senior leadership team you will be involved in designing and implementing the MMI technical strategy and will be at the heart of all technical decisions and plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the Operational Technical community to ensure that appropriate skills are implemented and individuals are provided with the personal skills to enable career progression
  • Create a strategy and lead implementation in all 7 MMI manufacturing facilities, ensuring that strategy is also applied to all Blowmoulding facilities
  • Create Protocols to enable the technical function to deliver Muller Excellence Objectives and drive compliance and a continuous Improvement mindset
  • Represent MMI to retail and ingredient partners to demonstrate commitment to the highest product quality and manufacturing standards
  • Ensure all MMI manufacturing facilities adhere to legislative, internal and external standards (BRC, TFMS, Labcred), Industry and Customer codes of practice that support delivery of Good manufacturing Practice, enabling successful audits and visits to support commercial operation
  • Ensure that routine rituals, tasks and objectives are undertaken and completed within agreed timescales and implement the Central policies and procedures
  • Implement and develop communications between Site and Central Quality Team/functions through established processes such as the Quality Forum and lead the agenda in such meetings
  • Lead by example regards behaviours and actively and visibly uphold the MMI values, encouraging the same from the team.
  • Challenge and develop individuals and systems, developing Central and Site(s) team skills and behaviours. Ensure succession planning is in place for all management roles and lead recruitment where necessary
  • Identify and support the development, maintenance and delivery of quality &/or systems related training packages
  • Coach and mentor to develop a culture of excellence.
  • Act as a role model in terms of accountability and integrity
  • Establish and Lead valued and relevant communication forums with team and cross-functionally across the business.

  • Ensure that all product from MMI manufacturing sites are delivered to specification - lead incident management for MMI business unit and resolution across multiple functions (Commercial, Supply chain, Procurement, Customer services and Operations) where escalation has demonstrated customer and Muller brand reputational risk
  • Ensure that continuous improvement in product quality and quality culture is developed at all MMI manufacturing sites

Key Requirements

  • Technical Management Experience - over 5 years
  • Experience of managing a cross functional team across several locations
  • To demonstrate excellent Management and leadership skills
  • Must be highly motivated, organised with good communication, co-ordination & influencing skills
  • Able to communicate across all levels internally and externally
  • Experience within a Food/Dairy/Drink related environment with knowledge of BRC, ISO 9001, Labcred
  • Excellent understanding of quality and data systems, including how to develop them, e.g SAP, Q-pulse, SharePoint, I-auditor
  • PC literate - Excel, Power Point & Word.
  • Lead Auditor in BRC, 22000 or 9001
  • Advanced Food Hygiene
  • Microbiology
  • Retailer COP- particularly Tesco, M&S, Sainsburys
