The role

Senior Systems Administrator in the Systems team to join its Storage and Databases Team, specialising in Veeam backups.

What will you be doing?

You will be supporting the design, development, maintenance, and support of the University’s mission critical IT infrastructure. You will deliver technical and service excellence, working on and problem-solving all aspects of Veeam backups administration and automated recovery testing, with opportunities to share your own knowledge and experience in the strategy, design, and implementation of the University’s enterprise systems and operations.

Alongside a multi-skilled team that also includes other Storage and backups Systems Administrators, you will help to deliver and maintain other backup solutions and both block and file level central storage.

You should apply if

You will have demonstrable experience of developing and running Veeam backup and recovery solutions at an enterprise level, as well running enterprise storage systems in general. You will be used to raising support calls with vendors, working closely with support teams to rectify problems as well as escalation procedures. Experience with any of the following would also be advantageous: disaster recovery planning, ransomware protection, enterprise tape, VMware, Windows, Linux, ITIL processes and Agile project management.

Showing initiative and agility in maintaining core infrastructure services, within a constantly changing and evolving environment, you will need to develop your own skills, collaborate with individuals across the department, and be confident in working independently as well as part of a team.

You will be at ease communicating with others at different technical levels, be that in person or email, or as required at present, over video call, instant messaging, or telephone. You will be a champion of our IT Services Charter (Professionalism, Aspiration, Respect, and Collaboration) and support the objectives and aims of the organisation’s Digital Strategy.
