Band 6 Integrated Sexual Health Senior Nurse

Surrey Integrated Sexual Health & HIV Services are pleased to be offering a great opportunity for registered nurses looking for a chance to progress their career within this speciality. The post holder will be a motivated registered nurse with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who has an enthusiasm to work effectively within a multidisciplinary innovative sexual and reproductive health service.
The post is full time WTE 1.0 (37.5hrs) but consideration will be given to suitable candidates who wish to work part time with a minimum of WTE 0.5 (18.75hrs).
The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.
The post-holder will be responsible for delivering a high standard of sexual and reproductive health care to patients. This will include delivering nurse-led clinics for Sexual Health and contraception. To take charge of the clinic shift on a regular basis according to rota, as well as supporting health care support workers and medical staff.
The post holder will facilitate the learning experience and environment for nurses (both pre and post registration) and other health professionals undergoing training and education in the department. This will include supervising and mentoring students undertaking contraceptive and sexual health courses.

To inform, advise, teach and counsel clients on all methods of contraception
including performing Implanon insertion and removal.
To obtain clear and thorough relevant histories from patients.
To examine patients and obtain appropriate clinical specimens according to clinic protocol.
To manage a range of symptomatic and asymptomatic female and male cases including discharge, genital ulceration and genital warts. (Relevance dependent on site of work).
To initiate Cryotherapy according to Cryotherapy protocol.
To recognize signs and symptoms of complex and unstable health problems
requiring medical review and refer on to appropriate health professionals.
To treat patients within the confines of patient group directions (PGDs) and arrange prescriptions of treatments not covered by PGD and safely administer and supply these.
To perform microscopy according to protocol. (Relevance dependent on site of work).
To carry out partner notification processes.
To promote sexual health and wellbeing through advice and information giving.
To maintain clinical case notes including electronic patients records to a high standard.
To observe and adhere to clinic protocols and working guidelines.
To liaise with nursing colleagues, other members of the multidisciplinary team and external agencies.
To assist in provision of nurse led sexual and reproductive health consultation in an outreach setting.
To assist the HCSW (Health Care Support Worker) to set up clinics, maintain equipment and order supplies if required.
To take part in initiatives to engage users in the development of the services depending on site of work
