Student Mentors
A Secondary school in Weston-super-Mare are looking to appoint three, full-time Student Mentors to join their collaborative support team as soon as possible. These roles have become available due to additional funding at the school to support students with a range of special education needs (SEN) and/ or social, emotional mental health needs (SEMH) are looking to appoint Students Mentors to join their collaborative student support team. The school pride's itself on not having a generic 'one size fits all' approach, as they provide specific, tailored learning programmes to fit the needs of their students. You will not have any responsibility of planning interventions, as this will be pre-done by the SENDCo at the school. However, there are chances for you to develop yourself and get involved with intervention planning, should this be something you wish to do with.
Whilst you may have experience of working in an education setting already, you may have experience in the following instead:
- Working in the care or mental health sector
- A degree in subjects such as Psychology, Sociology, Counselling etc
- Support or social worker
- Care work
- Youth/ extra-curricular activities/ clubs
- Voluntary work with children or adults with additional learning needs
The school are willing to give individuals an opportunity to work at their school if they have not worked within education before. They value your personality and attitude towards work. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
