Job description
Winning takes on many different forms. It’s not just about being the first to take the chequered flag. It’s about exciting our fans, inspiring our people and delivering for our partners. And it’s about evolving our sport, our industry, our technology.
Right now, we’re on a journey to becoming a World Championship contending race team in every series we enter - from F1 to Indy Car, Formula E, Extreme E and eSports. And we’re getting there by building a world class place to work. That means taking a brand new approach to our People & Culture team too. Winning on track requires us to find the best talent. Making sure they are engaged and motivated by our vision and have everything they need to perform at their best. Inspiring them to push the limits of what’s possible, wherever you see our name around the globe.
The challenge
In this role you’ll be the subject matter expert within McLaren Racing who will design and deliver a range of development programmes and experiences that will embed and enhance our high-performance culture and enable our team to perform at their peak.
From management and leadership development to digital learning and early careers programmes, you’ll work across our business to enhance our existing talent. But that’s only just the beginning. You’ll also collaborate with some of the biggest names on the planet in our partner network to create and activate campaigns aligned to their talent agendas, too. Put simply, you’ll use our combined power to deliver change in a huge way.
Your team
You’ll work closely with the Diversity, Development, Early Careers and Wellbeing team to make an impact across our wider People & Culture function. You’ll be part of an agile team that thrives on working at pace, while also building strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the wider McLaren Racing landscape. And you’ll discover a real commitment to rolling up our sleeves and getting things done.
Your day-to-day
You’ll spend your time:

- Continuously improving our development offering to ensure that it’s meeting the needs of our ever-changing team and industry
- You’ll be responsible for designing solutions for our commercial partners that deliver elements of our high-performance culture into their organisations, working with talent from across McLaren Racing to design unique and experiential learning. This is a unique aspect of the role and means you’ll spend time engaging with our network of commercial partners and delivering talent development expertise to support the development of the content we deliver to these partners.
- Optimise the use of apprenticeship standards as an option for our team to further their development or technical experience, including educating our team on the possibility of apprenticeships.
- Implementation of compliance training processes, systems and tracking
- Enhancing our new starter onboarding so the induction experience introduces people seamlessly to their teams and connects them to our values, history and culture from day one
- Supporting the performance management cycle across each department, providing process expertise and toolkits to embed our high-performance culture at all levels of the organisation
- Own the relationships with providers within our learning ecosystem including systems, consultants, apprenticeship providers and e-learning content.
Your story
To join our race for performance, you’ll need:
- A background working in, or with, a matrixed organisation within the engineering or technology sector either in house or with a consultancy/training organisation
- A knowledge of people development, with solid experience of scoping, designing and delivering initiatives that support it.
- Experience of building strong partnerships to deliver creative and innovative solutions, and an ability to prioritise, that enables you to craft solutions that support a variety of needs.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship programme set up, management and optimisation would be beneficial.
- The confidence to deliver content in an engaging way, whether it’s delivering training, pitching strategies, or presenting to large audiences.

- A creative and proactive approach to continuously improving the way we work.
- An ability to engage, influence and persuade stakeholders at every level of the organization
