Job description

Job Introduction

As the BBC moves into its 101st year of informing, educating and entertaining its audiences, we are adapting and refining our Talent Acquisition teams to help source the world’s best candidates to build #YourBBC.

The newly created Strategic Sourcing team will be focused on data-led, inclusive and nuanced market-predictive talent acquisition activity, with candidate experience at the centre of all we do.

As a team, Strategic Sourcing will be ‘consultative’ in the truest sense of the word. We’ll provide subject matter expertise to our colleagues across all divisions at the BBC: Production, Content, News and Current Affairs, Technology + Product, Corporate Functions and Nations & Regions.

Main Responsibilities

As a Senior Sourcing Advisor, you’ll be a Talent subject matter expert to our key stakeholders. You’ll be involved in and leading on a number of talent acquisition workstreams. This will include:

  • Sourcing for, maintaining and actively engaging inclusive and specialist talent pools to help fill specific vacancies, build wider talent programmes and future-proof hiring activity across the BBC.
  • Being a BBC Brand Ambassador in all sourcing activity, championing our employer brand strategy in all interactions internally and externally.
  • Provide key advice, recommendations and deep market knowledge to our hiring communities and the prospective BBC employees you engage with. This could include current market trends, salary benchmarking, best sourcing practice, candidate feedback etc.
  • Using data to inform and improve all of our Sourcing activity, from talent pooling to process tweaks and anything in-between.
  • Partner closely with our Employer brand, Executive Search, Contingent and BAU Talent teams on the key work we’re performing and leverage the many different skillsets across our group.
  • As a Senior Advisor, we’d love for you to act as a mentor to the Advisors in the team and help upskill them in their BBC journey.
  • Driving and applying creative and cost-effective sourcing tools to identify diverse talent

These are just some of the main workstreams you could be involved in, but as we’re a new team you can expect the scope, responsibilities and variety of this role to adapt as we implement our Sourcing function.

Are you the right candidate?

We’ll need to see the following on your CV and in your questionnaire answers in order to be considered for our Senior Advisor opportunity:

  • Previous recruitment or sourcing experience. This can be from agency, RPO/embedded partner or a full in-house talent role
  • Experience in building and cultivating research around passive candidates and building talent pools of qualified and engaged candidates
  • You must be comfortable working with, creating and visualising datasets. Excel/Sheets experience to an intermediate level will be needed.
  • Working knowledge of popular sourcing tools/methods such as LinkedIn, Otta, X-ray searching etc
  • Previous experience of maintaining talent pools in a CRM tool
  • A keen advocate for Inclusivity and Diversity across all aspects of talent acquisition
  • Any previous experience in talent marketing/employer brand work would be highly beneficial
  • The ability to work effectively managing multiple priorities and hiring projects at any time

If you’re looking for a truly multi-faceted recruitment opportunity, with an organisation that makes an impact, this could be the role for you.

Other notes

The interview process for this role will have 2 stages:

  • A behavioural and competency question interview / 30-45 minutes
  • A brief presentation given by you, on a specific sourcing challenge we’ll provide. This will be followed by a Q&A session, any follow-up questions from stage 1 and 4 strength based questions. (60-90 mins)

Total potential interview time = 2 hours 25 minutes

The BBC job family title for this role is 'Senior Resourcing Advisor'

To help you assess your experience level for this role, our team structure is: Strategic Sourcing Business Parter > Sourcing Team Lead > Senior Sourcing Advisor (this role) > Sourcing Advisor
