Job summary
Acas is at an exciting time as we change our structure, ways of working and culture to be fit for the future.
You will have the opportunity to work within the DDaT Directorate as a Solutions Architect on technical projects across Acas. You will supports the Head of Architecture in the delivery of Enterprise Architecture practices and governance and implementation of the IT strategy. Develop technical solutions and deliver information technology capabilities and desired business service outcomes based on a consistent and coherent approach, following best practice Information Technology solution, enterprise, and infrastructure architecture standards, principles and processes. Build and assess existing data information systems to support improvements in data and technology architecture where appropriate
Working on large or multiple pieces of work, assuring IT service across the organisation. Collaborating with stakeholders; providing guidance and challenge and proactively identify problems and solutions. To translate these into non- technical descriptions which can be widely understood and used. This may cover a wide range of topics from the technical design, the development methodology being used, to assessing the business impact certain technical choices are likely to have.

Job description
- Technical support and insight – accountable for offering technical support and insight into Acas' Technology and enterprise architecture accountabilities, including support with relevant polices, standards and catalogues.
- Design solutions, assessed and characterised by medium levels of risk, impact and business or technical complexity.
- Ensuring the technical integrity and the consistency of each technical solution throughout the service lifecycle.
- Responsible for the vision and documentation that underlies the proposed technical and architectural solution and the execution of that vision into the solution.
- Understands and resolves technical concepts and disputes across varying levels of complexity and risk.
- Capture and interpret the needs of the technical and business stakeholders so they are understood by all.
- Making and guiding effective decisions related to the solutions architecture recommendations, explaining clearly how a decision has been reached and ensuring quality of service and value for money.

Person specification
Experience
Essential:
- Ability to demonstrate extensive experience in the field of solutions architecture, covering a wide range of activities, including a comprehensive background and knowledge of IT concepts and technologies. This should include IT systems, networks, Cloud technologies and software applications.
- Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of systems security.
- Ability to support the creation of and embedding of relevant enterprise architectural policies, standards and models.
- Experience of working across the business to ensure business processes are captured and mapped and then included in the solutions architecture recommendations related to improvements in the technical architecture.
- Ability to work with business and technology stakeholders to capture requirements and report on recommendations, ensuring quality of service and value for money.
