What you'll do
You will form part of a multi-functional team responsible for the isolation of therapeutic antibodies and tool reagents using in vivo antibody discovery technologies.
As a Senior Scientist you will generate and QC bespoke reagents (proteins, conjugates, cell lines, genetic expression constructs (e.g. plasmid DNA)) for in vivo antibody generation projects.
You will perform the in vivo antibody discovery process including: antigen specific B-cell isolation by flow cytometry or hybridoma generation, automated colony picking, primary characterization of in vivo-derived antibodies using both biochemical and cell-based screens, antibody gene isolation and cloning, sequence analysis of antibody clones, hybridoma propagation, and antibody purification, in order to support projects in the identification of lead antibodies.
In addition, you will contribute to projects aimed at improving process efficiency and investigate new methodologies, techniques and/or equipment that may be beneficial for the in vivo antibody discovery process and/or add value to the team’s functional output.
Responsible for day-to-day lab management and represent the lab at site lab rep meetings.
Essential for the role
PhD; or BSc/MSc with extensive laboratory experience in molecular biology /Cell Biology/Biochemistry
Demonstrated laboratory skills and experience in the following: Molecular biology (e.g. PCR, cloning, sequence analysis) and mammalian cell culture
Protein expression, purification and QC analytical techniques
Performing routine biochemical assays (e.g. ELISA, HRTF, western blotting, etc.)
Desirable for the role
Experience of protein conjugation
Experience with hybridoma generation
Experience working with primary cells
Experience of performing cell-based assays
Practical experience of laboratory automation and LIMS systems
Practical experience of protein engineering
Experience within pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry
Experience of recombinant cell line generation
