About the Role:
You will be involved in an exciting programme of research as part of The Institute of Excellence in Robotic Surgery. You will join a growing team of researchers led by Professor Barbara Pierscionek, Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation) in the Faculty of Health, Education, Medicine and Social Care and Professor Graham Ball, Director of the Medical Technology Research Centre Anglia Ruskin University’s Chelmsford Campus working in collaboration with surgical teams at the East Sussex North Essex Foundation NHS Trust to develop computational models using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to model effects of different biocompatible materials. You will also apply machine learning protocols and models to process massive and non-intuitive datasets from sensors for applications in soft robotics.
You will have a BSc in Engineering/ Physics/Computer Science/Informatics or related discipline at 1st or 2nd class honours and a PhD in areas of Biomedical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Electronic Engineering/ Computer Science or Physics with some experience of FEA/CFD and machine learning models. You are willing to learn new research skills and methods, have keen observational and analytical skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, a high level of integrity, in personal and research activities, as well as dedication to research investigation.
