Job description
We are recruiting a two qualified Senior Psychological Practitioner / Psychotherapist, to work across our acute psychiatric pathway (Inpatient and HTT). This is an exciting opportunity to work across the acute pathway, supporting SU, families and clinical teams. You'll also contribute to the development of a transition / post discharge programme, offering time limited follow-up and community integration for SU / carers. You will be working as part of a wide and diverse P&P team, joining a number of exciting and existing developments in Croydon, including a range of Peer Support Worker and High Intenisty Users services.
** We would be willing to consider newly qualified band psychologists / psychotherapists as part of the preceptorship.
Job Purpose:
- To provide a highly specialist psychological interventions according to discipline including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
- To contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.
- To provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate, functioning as a lead specialist.
- To promote service evaluation, audit and research.
- To work as an autonomous professional within registration body guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by principles and policies or procedures of the service, taking responsibility for interpreting policies within defined parameters.
- To agree outcomes/results with clinical/professional lead and to decide how they are best achieved.
- To be active in the provision of staff support within their area, including but not limited to Critical Incident Staff Support and Reflect-Support-Resolve. To participate, as a recipient, in staff support work when appropriate.
SLaM employ around 5000 staff and serve a local population of 1.1 million people. We have more than 230 services including inpatient wards, outpatient and community services. Currently, provide inpatient care for approximately 5,300 people each year and treat more than 45,000 patients in the community in Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark; as well as substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich.

Main duties
- Evidence-based assessment, formulation and interventions for individuals and families who experience mental health difficulties
- Offer the provision of staff support and case formulation, developing the therapeutic milieu across inpatient wards and HTT. Including working part of the MDT and provide indirect support and consultation for colleagues.
- Supporting the development of post discharge community transition services.
- Provide supervision for psychological therapists, as needed and would be encouraged to support trainee clinical psychology placements.
- Croydon is a diverse borough and the postholder will work to engage with the local community and take their needs into consideration to provide an accessible service.
