Location: Flexible within Scotland but will involve regular travel to the Glasgow office
Closing date: 12th March 2023
The opportunity (the bit where we tell you what it’s all about!)
Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity where you’ll be central to the development & growth of our regional business? A role within our Regional Underwriting team could be the one for you! We like to provide innovative, creative propositions to suit our customer’s needs and we pride ourselves on going above and beyond. Why? Simply put, we want to exceed all expectations by delivering a high-quality service that sets us apart from our competitors.
As a Senior Underwriter, you’ll be handling business across our existing portfolio while helping us grow by onboarding new customers. This means you’ll be in a Market facing role, so it’s really important that you are great at communicating and have a built-in passion for doing the right thing for our customers.
We’ll support and train you in all the technical aspects of the role and will make sure that you feel part of the team from day one.
So what will you be doing?
Well, you can expect no two days to be the same, you’ll be working with your team and reporting into a Business Manager as well as interacting with brokers and intermediaries daily.
We need you to provide a standout service experience for customers and stakeholders and be responsible for delivering quality and timely solutions for them. This means taking ownership of own workload and supporting colleagues to deliver our collective workload - it’s all about being a team player!
As a senior member of the team, part of your role will be coaching and mentoring the junior members of the team and supporting them to develop. You will also have accountability and ownership for driving, analysing and delivering a strong underwriting result across our portfolio.
If you spot ways we can improve things or do them differently, we’d love you to tell us, that’s how we can boost effectiveness and efficiency of our processes.
So what are we looking for?
You will have well established Property Underwriting experience. Capability to also handle Casualty business would be advantageous but not critical to the role at this point. What we really need are your strengths and energy to come into play.
We will help you to extend your knowledge of the group risk market and products, as well as all the technical bits but you’ll already be a strong communicator who is happy making a decision.
We’d like you to be happy to challenge processes and decisions using your attention to detail. You’ll naturally adapt your style to different workloads and pressures and be able to think on your feet. Last but not least, organisation and the ability to prioritise is really key, our customer is always foremost on our minds!
The reward:
As well as a competitive salary we also offer an excellent lifestyle benefits package which includes:
- 12% Non Contributory pension scheme
- Annual company bonuses
- 25 days holiday plus an additional 3 volunteering days
- Private medical cover
- Discounted gym membership,
