Job description

The Senior Project Manager role is unique within the organisation:

  • It is focused entirely on key projects which directly improve the care delivered to our patients.
  • A practical hands-on approach is encouraged, with the post holder driving forward a range of key projects projects.
Previous projects have included rolling out the COVID vaccine to 6,500 colleagues, leading on a programme to improve the delays ambulances experience in handing over patients at hospitals and improving the response to patients who have fallen.

Reporting directly to the Deputy Director of Clinical Care, the role is supported by a Project Manager and Project Support Officer.
  • Lead the project management function within the Directorate.
  • Autonomously lead on programmes and projects to improve patient care, in line with the Trust’s strategy and annual plan.
  • Plan, support, facilitate and monitor progress of projects within own portfolio or across the directorate.
  • Design and develop the overarching wider Directorate work plan with associated budget costs.
  • Manage allocated budget.
  • Co-ordinate project staff and contractors through full project life-cycle activities, directly supporting the development of project deliverables as required.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a governance framework for Directorates projects and other associated work streams.
  • Implement recognised project management processes, procedures and tools within the Directorate as appropriate.
  • Use a range of tools and software to develop and maintain Directorate projects and work stream plans.
  • Provide specialist Project Management advice and support to other members of the Directorate.
  • The post-holder will, with the wider team, identify areas for improvement and will support staff to develop the plans to do this.
