Our Estates and Facilities Team in Coventry University Enterprises Limited provides the essential functions to support the continued UK and international growth of the University, providing the spaces, facilities, infrastructure, and expertise to create a world class experience for all our customers, without which we wouldn’t be ranked so highly or have won our numerous awards.
We are looking to recruit a Senior Project Manager to join our Estates Property Development team and take responsibility for the delivery of a diverse and challenging range of projects, including new build, alteration, refurbishment and net zero carbon targets for projects ranging from £10k to in excess of £60m.
The Senior Project Manager will take responsibility for the day to day management of the projects and also the delivery of large elements of the overall programme of work, delivering to Group standards and cost objectives.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing client business plans, providing strategic building related advice and using necessary research and feasibility studies to produce a specification that reflects their needs.
- Establishing project plans and programmes from inception to completion taking into account all relevant statutory and Local Authority requirements, alongside project costs. Manage this throughout the life of the project and post completion, taking responsibility for decision making and negotiating with all parties including clients, solicitors and local authorities
- Establish a suitable project team, including appointing relevant consultants and create/manage project delivery targets and required training for the team. In conjunction with the Head of Property Development, carry out regular monitoring and performance assessment of consultants and contractors
The candidate:
The role will involve working on complex projects, the successful applicant will therefore need the ability to respond to change in a live construction environment and to make clear, considered decisions when under pressure. They will also demonstrate substantial experience in the management of new and refurbishment projects in excess of £25m construction value.
This role would also suit applicants who can demonstrate:
- Educated to degree level with a construction related chartered professional qualification.
- The successful delivery of major design and build projects when undertaking the role of PM and EA including managing a team combining in house employees and contractors.
- A strong knowledge of property and construction related legislation and contract law and a wide range of understanding of appropriate legislation related to development.
