Job description

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to manage and lead a wide range of complex projects and programmes whilst also helping to implement and develop key project management processes that will underpin the new Project Management Office in our Commercial function. Projects will primarily be focused on transforming how we connect and engage with our supporters locally and globally, through our digital platforms, membership proposition, the stadium or our retail outlets.

Your day-to-day


  • Successfully delivering across a range of programmes and projects to time, plan and budget.
  • Successfully delivering physical and digital projects from initiation to deployment.
  • Developing and owning project plans, defining project objectives, scope, deliverables, and timelines, coordinating project activities and tasks to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Assigning tasks to project team and key stakeholders and monitoring and driving their progress whilst tracking project milestones, deliverables, and dependencies.
  • Identifying project risks, issues, and dependencies, and developing effective risk mitigation strategies. Proactively monitoring and addressing risks throughout the project lifecycle to minimise their impact on project timeline and deliverables. Escalating risks effectively to senior leaders as and when required.
  • Providing leadership and direction for project stakeholder groups by building and motivating team members to meet project goals and milestones. Driving effective communication with project stakeholders, including senior leaders and suppliers.
  • Leading and facilitating project meetings, including kick-off meetings, status updates, and project review sessions. Leading on project reporting and actions to ensure the wider team is held accountable and supported to deliver effectively.
  • Collaborating with finance and other stakeholders to monitor and report on project budgets. Effectively tracking project costs and ensuring adherence to budgetary requirements.
  • Working with the Programme Lead to design and stand up robust and consistent project management processes across our Commercial department.


What we are looking for

  • Extensive experience in delivering commercial and business transformation across a wide range of projects and programmes with proven success.
  • Experience of managing multiple projects concurrently, prioritising your time effectively as required.
  • Leading complex projects and programmes and driving progress to successfully deliver to time, plan and budget.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of managing complex business change programmes within highly commercial environments.
  • A broad project management skillset including reporting, planning, governance, budget management and risk and issue management.
  • Experience of building, leading and managing teams.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Experience in delivering with both agile and waterfall methodologies – able to adapt approach to get the best outcome on a project by project basis.
  • Proven track record of establishing project management processes.
  • Strategic thinking that shows strong commercial awareness and insight.
  • APM, Prince2 or PMI qualification or the equivalent worked experience.
