What will you be doing?
As a Senior Procurement Officer, you will be responsible for leading and advising across a range of procurement activity throughout the procurement lifecycle.
Day to day you’ll be…
- Working with stakeholders to develop and deliver appropriate procurement strategies.
- Working with stakeholders to identify appropriate forms of contracts and models for goods, services and works agreements.
- Designing. preparing and evaluating pre-tender and tender documents including SQs, ITTs and RFQs in conjunction with stakeholders to meet agreed procurement objectives.
- Involved in contract management of corporate contracts to ensure robust delivery and that the contracts continue to meet business needs.
- Advising and supporting stakeholders with use of the Council’s e-procurement system, including provision of training to users and ongoing development of the system.
- Ensuring compliance with the Council’s Contract Standing Orders, Procurement Strategy, relevant external regulations, legislation and procurement law.
- Developing and delivering relevant training materials around Procurement and relevant procurement regulations.
- Analysing finance and spend data to identify trends and opportunities related to procurement and improved contracting.
- Acting as a key point of contact to both suppliers and stakeholders to assist in resolution of procurement strategy, procurement policy and system queries.
- Covering others in the Procurement Team, helping to align processes across the team and assisting in the development and implementation of any new policy, procedures and processes.
What we’re looking for
We need someone who has experience in a Procurement environment and is confident in supporting internal stakeholders with their procurement activity. You will already have a range of experience working in a procurement field and ideally will have commenced your CIPS studies.
- You will be comfortable working in a role which requires independent thinking, self-motivation, proactivity and flexibility while working in teams
- You will be happy working with minimum supervision; efficiently managing your own time and taking ownership and responsibility for delivering against performance objectives
- You will have a strategic and commercial approach when analysing problems, identifying alternative solutions and forming robust recommendations
- You will have a flexible approach and an ability to manage several tender events and projects at any given time
- And, ideally, you will have working knowledge of public sector procurement processes and the relevant procurement regulations
Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away.
