About the Opportunity
AXIOM is one of the DSA alliance partners and is an unincorporated Joint Venture (JV) made up of three major engineering contracting companies each with complementary capabilities and skills. The members have excellent nuclear pedigrees, demonstrated expertise and effective track records across the UK nuclear fleet and related nuclear industries.
AXIOM provides process, mechanical, civil structural and architectural, electrical, instrumentation, control and safety capabilities to support Sellafield Ltd.
As well as having a large, dedicated team working for Sellafield Ltd, each has immense reach-back capability into parent organisations for knowledge, expertise and innovations gained from within, and external to, the nuclear industry. Examples of other markets include Oil and Gas, Environment, Mining and Aerospace.
The extensive capacity and capabilities of the AXIOM alliance provide the essential expertise that is crucial to achieving both the designs of the alliance and the wider goals of Sellafield Ltd and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).
You will be joining a large existing team that clearly understands the different requirements for optioneering, solution inspired, design decommissioning, operating plant asset care, infrastructure and new builds.
As a result of an increasing portfolio of projects, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Process Engineer to join the team in Whitehaven.
The role will typically involve the following
- Production of Process Design deliverables (inc. formal checking) in support of tasks related to Analytical and Active Area Services, e.g. Basis of Design, Process Descriptions, Calculations, Datasheets and other technical reports.
- Interfacing with other technical disciplines and Plant personnel in identifying design solutions and delivering design packages for implementation.
- Involvement in and support to Scoping and Planning, Detail Design and Execution (installation, testing and commissioning) phase activities.
- Engineering Design assurance activities as necessary.
- Assistance in scoping, estimating and planning for new tasks.
- Oversight and support to less experienced Process Engineers where necessary.
- Degree qualified Chemical Engineer.
- Chartered Engineer status (or Associate Member actively working towards Chartership).
- Evidence of design capability working as part of a multi-discipline team and an understanding of relevant interfaces
- Confidence and demonstrable capability to work with minimal supervision to meet required outcomes in limited timescales and engage with and challenge all parties.
- Recent experience of delivering DSEAR Assessment and Pressure Relief design activities.
- Experience of delivering Process design or Process Engineering support in operational Laboratory facilities.
- Knowledge of Safety Case principals
