Baker Hicks with our construction colleagues (Morgan Sindall Construction and Infrastructure) have grown rapidly in the Transmission & Distribution sector over the last three years and have been successful in winning a number of key projects within the UK. Responsibilities and accountabilities
- Manage the team of OHL Engineers & CAD technicians.
- Liase with the multidisciplinary team to achieve required project outcomes.
- Lead a number of projects.
- Taking commercial responsibility for projects (Cost Value Reporting, review payment application, variation registers, etc).
- Support the Power Sector with Tenders & Business Develepment.
- Check/Approve OHL designs on PLS-CADD in accordance with BS-EN 50341.
- Check/Approve OHL structures on PLS-Tower.
- Check/Approve Detailed OHL Designs, and associated aspects.
- Preparation of OHL design concepts, technical reports, specifications and other written documents.
- Adherence to Baker Hicks management procedures.
- Establish best practice and produce procedures in order to ensure compliance.
- Design input/output within the designated risk management process.
- Accept ownership of work to be done (i.e. being required to undertake specific actions within an agreed job boundary, the execution of a delegated task, activity or process).
Skills and experience
- Technical experience in the production of all designs, calculations, reports & drawings associated with the new build or refurbishment of overhead line projects from 11kV – 400kV.
- Experience in design of OHL with PLS-CADD and PLS-Tower.
- Experience in either CAD packages such, AutoCAD, BoCAD, etc.
- Have a good understanding of British and European Standards and technical specifications from utility providers such as National Grid, SSE, Scottish Power, UKPN, WPD, etc
- Reasonable level of maths and science and have good communication skills.
