Senior Primary Care Nurse - HMP Rye Hill Rugby, England

Practice Plus Group
Full Time Rugby, England 37595 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

About The Role

Have you thought about working within prison healthcare?

Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work - if you’re looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day in an environment that never stands still, then this is it!

As a Registered Nurse (RGN) you’ll be an integral part of the healthcare team at HMP Rye Hill by bringing you clinical skills and passion for care. You could be involved in anything from developing and leading clinics, undertaking examinations and tests as well as answering emergency bells and potentially being the first person to attend an emergency as well as leading by example to a multidisciplinary team.
Practice Plus Group were recently awarded the healthcare contract at HMP Rye Hill and will begin delivering services in October 2022. We are the Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.

About You

You will be a Registered Nurse (RGN) looking to develop your current skills in a unique and ever changing environment. You will have a passion for learning and development, as well as having the initiative to bring new ideas and opinions on how to improve the healthcare services. Prison Healthcare experience is not essential although we do ask that you have experience within primary care.

You’ll receive an annual salary £37,595 per annum - depending on experience; free DBS check, free uniform, free mandatory training, indemnity cover, CPD and re-validation support. As well as a company pension scheme, 25 days annual leave, increasing with service up to 28 days per year, plus 8 public bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time).
Interested in clinical development?

We offer opportunities to develop in to a specialist role of your interest which in turn benefits the service. Examples include ANP, BBV, sexual health, ILS (intermediate life support), health promotion, phlebotomy, vaccinations, suturing, wound care, RCGP, and long term condition courses.

How will we support you?
  • Bespoke induction
  • Competency framework
  • Preceptorship (newly qualified practitioners)
  • Regular clinical supervision
  • Supported development into specialties such as diabetes or asthma
  • Regional and national career development opportunities
  • Our bespoke Learning Management System to address your learning needs
  • Support from the wider team
