The opportunity:
Are you looking to take that next step in your Underwriting career? This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our Commercial Insurance in the role of a Senior Underwriter.
As a Senior Power Underwriter, you’ll be responsible for providing high quality underwriting for these subsegments and contribute to the development of our Strategic Plan in alternative energy.

What will you be doing?
- Responsible for negotiating, underwriting, and servicing of allocated accounts in accordance with authorities and guidelines.
- Collaborating with the line of business head on strategy and tactical plans for the development of these alternative energy segments.
- Proactively seek and lead renewal and new account opportunities.
- Qualify accounts to meet with the organization's appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity.
- Cross-Sell other lines of business to increase product density with the account.
- Serve as key contact for assigned target accounts.
- Maintain and build strong broker and client relationships.
- Contribute to development of underwriting manuals, programs and guidelines for a relatively young and exciting industry.
- Build relationships with customers and provide advice with the development of an account to create additional value for the organisation and customers.
- Apply rating tools and methodologies to deliver to customers and offer suggestions for improvements.
- Assist in training and developing staff across the Zurich network
What are we looking for?
- Extensive underwriting or other relevant experience dealing with clients and projects in wind & solar energy and battery storage.
- Experience dealing with industry partners on international business
- Broad alternative energy sector knowledge and business awareness – sound understanding of the market, the insurance covers and potential exposures within these industries
- Knowledge of the London market environment and practices
- Knowledge of ‘best practice’ risk management controls
- Able to instigate and implement process change
- High level of computer literacy
- Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- ACII or other relevant professional & technical qualifications (preferred)
