Do you have experience of using data languages or tools to visualise data?

Can you turn complex data into a compelling story?

If so, we would love to hear from you!

Job description

You will be responsible for developing performance measurement frameworks - KPIs, goals, user needs, benefits - and analysing the performance of a service or product against these, adapting their approach and framework appropriately and in line with any changes.

You will provide analytical and problem-solving expertise, using quantitative and qualitative evidence from digital analytics, content and search engine optimisation, other off-line performance and financial data and user feedback. You will work closely with digital delivery teams to identify ‘what good looks like’, develop hypotheses, make cases for additional tracking and data collection, ensure that data is accurate and significant, and provide analysis and actionable insights through effective storytelling techniques.

You will be part of one or more agile/scrum delivery teams within the Application Development Team; working collaboratively with Product Owners, Business Analysts and Technical Colleagues (e.g. software developers, testers) to develop digital solutions that deliver value to customers and the business.

Responsibilities

Include but not limited to:

  • Producing accurate, engaging, and actionable analysis of online and offline data sources to derive priority user needs and user behaviour
  • Responsibility for providing insight and recommendations for action based on user data in easily understandable and engaging ways - such as show and tells, blog posts, dashboards
  • Influencing and supporting product teams, in particular Service Owners, Product Owners, User Researchers, Service Designers and Business Analysts, helping them to identify ‘what good looks like’, develop hypotheses and report on value delivered
  • Supporting the development of the vision for data / analytics architecture and workflow across the organisation, including instrumentation, tagging and user management

Please see the attached Candidate Pack for more information.

Additional information

Potential travel to other DVSA office locations may be required e.g., Bristol, Swansea, Nottingham, Newcastle.

Person specification

You will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to take responsibility for the delivery of discrete, specified pieces of work to support the delivery of major initiatives alongside standalone smaller-scale projects. Experience with data languages and tools along with the ability to visualise and analyse the data is important in this role. You will be comfortable turning complex data into compelling, clear, and actionable stories.

We are committed to encouraging and enabling our staff to develop in and above their role and will support you through further development opportunities/qualifications.
