The role of Senior Pension Payroll Administrator within the HSBC Wealth Retirement Services - Banking team:

The role has a wide scope of responsibilities and requires a detailed understanding of payroll processes and the relevant regulations. Client Money reconciliations and mandate auditing are undertaken on a daily basis requiring technical knowledge of Client Assets Securities Services (CASS).

This position would be ideal for someone who wants to continue to develop their management and technical skills.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Accurate completion of the twice monthly pension payrolls
  • Allocation and auditing of tax codes
  • Production of P45’s and P60’s
  • Tax year start/end processing
  • Provide information to HMRC in line with HMRC requirements and deadlines
  • Ensuring all payments required by HMRC are accurate
  • Responding to payroll queries
  • Accurate completion of client money reconciliations
  • Accurate completion of money movements
  • Ensuring invoices are raised in line with terms and conditions and in a timely manner
  • Debt recovery in connection with invoices
  • Overseeing direct debit administration
  • Production of management information as and when required
  • Procedure reviews
  • Training and coaching members of staff at all levels
  • Allocation and supervision of work
  • Auditing/peer checking work – including outsourced activities
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ hands on experience of working in payroll
  • Experience of processing a payroll tax year end
  • Knowledge of payroll legislation
  • Experience of manual payroll calculations
  • A payroll qualification is desirable
  • Working knowledge of RTI
  • Working knowledge of Government Gateway and BACS Payment Services
  • Evidence of maintaining own CPD
  • Excellent numeric skills
  • Competent IT skills/Excel
  • Knowledge of pension administration system (SIPP~Pro) would be beneficial
  • Strong attention to detail and be articulate and diligent
  • Strong organisation and time management skills and be able to work to tight deadlines
  • The ability to work on own initiative as well as being able to identify when it is necessary to seek advice and support
  • Good team working skills

The base location is Forum 1, The Forum, Fareham, PO15 7PA, UK Hybrid.
