What does your typical day look like?

  • Primary customer interface with Biscuits and Crisps, Snacking (CSN) Buying Team with occasional contact with Buying Manager as required
  • Responsible for the commercial performance of Burtons entire Sweet and Savoury Burton’s portfolio through all physical Customer formats (Hypermarkets, Supermarkets, Convenience, Discount) where appropriate by customer.
  • To plan and execute budgeted volume and profit within a defined accounts or channels by pulling multiple levers including distribution, promotions and feature space.
  • Responsible for managing the negotiations and the development of Customer JBP’s (or equivalents), their implementation and reporting on their progress (all to be aligned to both Marketing Brand plans and customer strategy)


Other key actions will be but not limited to:

  • Responsibility for account performance and all Customer financial measures, including full trading P&L (Tonnage, Revenue, Gross Contribution, TCAM)
  • Develop customer specific strategies and tactics to deliver budgeted P&L, increase market share, and deliver Customer JBP
  • Negotiate all pricing, trading terms, promotions, fixed investments and any item with financial impact
  • Responsible for the forecast for the upcoming season and full year plan
  • Landing the current in-month forecast for tonnage, revenue, GC and TCAM
  • Represent account within Burton’s Biscuits, championing what is needed to be successful.
  • Pro-actively develop a wide range of cross functional contacts within customer and facilitate appropriate department to department contact (Buying, Promotional Planning, Supply Chain, Marketing)
  • Manage and coordinate internal process and procedures, ensuring that the account management is aligned to all corporately recognised systems


What are the key ingredients needed for the role?

  • Previous P&L responsibility, preferably within large-scale retail customer.
  • Experience of working within food industry and within Impulse advantageous.
  • Evidence of successful leadership and proven trading achievements.
  • Ideally large scale customer experience at SNAM/NAM level within the retail channel and within food.
  • It is highly desirable that candidate have good knowledge of both Branded & Retailer Branded products.
