Senior Microbiologist
Do you have experience in pharmaceutical microbiology? Are you enthusiastic about the development of methods to ensure the quality of the microbiology of new products? If so, then read on for an excellent opportunity in the Medicine Development and Supply team.
We now have exciting opportunity to join a team of diverse and talented microbiologists providing microbiological technical support to the development of non-sterile and sterile drug products.
In this role you will:
Provide microbiological practical and intellectual support for identified drug projects under development within Medicine Development and Supply.
Be responsible for developing methods, that are compliant with relevant Pharmacopoeia, to ensure the microbiological quality of new, non-sterile and sterile products
Be responsible for testing, preparing reports and issuing results associated with drug substance, drug product, excipients, environmental monitoring samples and water samples, according to agreed deadlines.
Maintain familiarity with regulatory support required for assigned product areas and be responsible for authoring the microbiology content of regulatory submissions.
Support Digital Data and Analytics projects to improve the quality and re-usability of microbiology data by applying FAIR data principles and use of structured data.
Perform technical and quality review of data and actively promote data integrity standards within the team.

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
A background in pharmaceutical microbiology educated to degree level
Experienced in aseptic technique
Practical and theoretical knowledge of Microbial Limit Testing, Endotoxin testing
Demonstrated ability to interpret analytical results from microbiological testing
Able to carry out laboratory investigations to identify root cause of atypical results
Strong problem-solving skills with ability to identify and evaluate multiple solutions to technical challenges
Agile worker, able to manage multiple projects and react to changes in priorities and workload.
Strong written and verbal communication – confident to work with external contract testing organisations and internal project teams. Present effectively at internal meetings
Comfortable with learning and working with new technologies and digital/electronic data
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
Experience in microbial identification and use of the Bruker MALDI Biotyper® is advantageous.
Previous experience working in a GMP environment
Understanding of Regulatory requirements for microbiological control of new pharmaceutical products
