Job description
We are excited to be able to offer this opportunity for two Band 6 mental health nurses within the new Op Courage Integrated Veterans Mental Health Service.
NSFT is pleased to be part of a collaboration with other local providers to provide this new service for armed forces veterans across the East of England. The lead provider is EPUT (Essex Partnership University Trust) and we will also work in collaboration with specialist veteran-specific organisations such as Walking With the Wounded, the Warrior Programme, Outside the Wire and Mental Health Matters as well as the other clinicians within the multi-disciplinary team. The new service aims to amalgamate some existing clinical services for veterans, such as TILS (Transition Intervention and Liaison Service), CTS (Complex Treatment Service) and HIS (High Intensity Service) into one simplified and comprehensive service.
We are particularly interested to hear from applicants who demonstrate experience in the welfare and mental health treatment of veterans, or who have an understanding of their particular needs and experiences. These often include psychological trauma, social disadvantage and obstacles to their engagement with mental health services. Therefore, our staff require a fundamental commitment to addressing these needs and overcoming such obstacles to provide the best possible care to this particular client group.
The service will operate across the East of England so some availability to travel will be necessary. It is also a 7 day service so some commitment to working weekends on an a rota basis will be required.
In return, we can offer the opportunity to be part of a new and exciting service, specialist supervision, and close links to existing national NHS services for Veterans.
We welcome any informal discussions from potential applicants.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust within the Op Courage Service. NSFT achieved Veteran Aware accreditation in 2021 and has been at the forefront of the development of mental health services for armed forces veterans.
Here at NSFT we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly and supportive team who like nothing better than sharing experiences and learning from each other. In addition to ongoing training and development opportunities, we are committed to providing an environment in which you can thrive.
