In this role you will work with the Head of Public Health, in delivering the strategic medical plan for the Public Health - Oncology & Vaccines therapy areas and to deliver operational excellence to the UK and Ireland (UKI) medical affairs team. You will contribute to the development and implementation of our strategic planning for the UK by providing medical insight and applying expert knowledge about the disease area. You will also identify, develop and maintain credible relationships with healthcare professionals , providers and academic centres and advocate cross functional partners hip across the business in the delivery of company and team objectives. You will maintain integrity and ethical standards for the organisation, always acting by example and function in a non- promotional capacity for 100% of the time spent in role.
In this role you will:
Be the medical expert and represent the Medical Department to provide fair, balanced, non- promotional and unbiased medical and scientific assistance in relation to specific requests from healthcare professionals (HCPs) for further information on our product portfolio, clinical development program, or disease area(s) of interest.
Identify, develop and maintain professional and credible relationships with the health care community, especially Scientific experts and academic centres, in the relevant disease area(s) and in partnership with relevant internal functions deliver improved patient outcomes in a given disease area.
Participate in the development of the Medical Affairs Plans (MAPs) and implement tactics identified in the MAP that align with the Company’s therapeutic areas of interest.
Work cross functionally and undertake the delivery of specific (or assist the delivery of) projects in the MAP e.g. symposia, advice seeking activities, medical education initiatives.
In partnership with colleagues, facilitate the delivery of data generation activities (phase I -III), including the identification of suitable research projects, research centres, investigators and innovative methods to generate data.
Ensure that all activities and interactions are conducted in compliance with applicable local, global and national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct (including but not limited to the ABPI Code of Practice) company policies and accepted standards of best practice.
What We Are Looking For:
You would have a strong scientific background in medical or biological science, preferably a GMC registered doctor, GPhC registered pharmacist or someone with a PhD/ Masters . It is preferable that you have previous Medical Affairs experience and/or clinical experience within Public Health Vaccines and Oncology. It is also essential to have a strong understanding of the National Health Service in the UK, the UK academic environment and the life sciences community as a whole and how the various aspects operate together. You should be comfortable and proficient discussing data, policy, health economics and science with stakeholders in these areas.
You will be self-assured in your communication and social skills with excellent strategic planning and organisational skills . You will be able to prioritise work effectively; balancing both long- and short-term tasks and be able to demonstrate previous excellent cross functional working and have a good working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Pharmacovigilance laws and regulations and the ABPI code of conduct, preferably a final signatory status.
The defining skills , therefore, will be well-developed communications s kills combined with the ability to strategically plan, critically appraise progress , and work towards implementing change with external and internal stakeholders to bring about impactful objectives.
