Job Description Summary
Are you ready to lead a team of dedicated colleagues to achieve great things?Group Finance Support are looking for secondment cover for a Senior Manager to lead the Invoicing & Expenses team based in Edinburgh. Responsible for the payment of over 20,000 invoices per month and owning the Group-wide colleague expenses process, you'll lead a team of around 30 colleagues to make timely and accurate payments to both suppliers and colleagues.
You'll be Helping Britain Prosper by ensuring our suppliers are paid promptly whilst protecting the bank with your operational risk knowledge and skills. The Invoicing & Expenses team processed over £5bn in payments last year and supported 27,000 colleagues who made an expense claim! This high profile role will give you exposure to senior colleagues in a number of business areas across the Group.

What you'll be working on:
You'll lead and develop a large team (approx. 30 colleagues) and as a Senior Manager, you'll role model strong financial control behaviours; you'll be leading a team through coaching, feedback and mentoring. As part of the wider Group Finance Support management team, you'll be setting, tracking and delivering longer term strategic goals with a clear responsibility to drive improvements.
- Leading the operations of the team including managing capacity, ensuring daily/monthly deadlines are met, managing reconciliation issues and reporting deadlines are met
- Leading on issue management, communicating and facilitating resolution
- Providing SME knowledge and collaborating with the Value Streams/Platforms to support requirements & delivery of change programmes
- Establishing effective relationships with stakeholders including presenting at senior level meetings
- Operational risk oversight
- Leading a development focused team and demonstrating continuous learning and self-development.
You'll have oversight of the daily operational activity of the team ensuring risks are understood and that controls are effective.
We have a regulatory responsibility to publicly report our supplier payment metrics on a semi-annual basis and you'll lead this process from start to finish covering the data capture through to the Director approvals.
On top of this, there's an opportunity to actively develop and maintain a wide range of key, effective working relationships with business areas.
Who we're looking for:
- Must have strong leadership skills and be capable of leading a mixed grade department
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly organised, able to demonstrate excellent customer and relationship management
- Ability to positively influence others by demonstrating core values and behaviours
- Good understanding of operational risk
- A background in accounts payable would be desirable but not crucial.
