About KPMG International
KPMG is a global organization of independent professional services firms providing Audit, Tax and Advisory services. We operate in 146 countries, have more than 220,000 people working in member firms around the world.
KPMG International acts as a coordinating entity, carrying out business activities for the benefit of KPMG firms. More than 2,500 talented colleagues make up the KPMG International team, with a focus on ensuring global consistency and providing expertise to support member firms in the achievement of KPMG’s Trust and Growth ambition. KPMG International is comprised of a number of high-performing global teams, including: Global Advisory, Global Audit, Global Clients & Markets, Global Corporate Affairs, Global People, Global Quality and Risk Management, Global Tax & Legal, Global Technology and Knowledge, the International Office of General Counsel, and the Office of Chief Administrative Officer. Working together, our global team is changing the way our business operates, delivering value to our member firms and driving positive change in the communities we serve.
About the team
The world is facing significant social, economic and technological change. As businesses increasingly embrace the concept of stakeholder capitalism, KPMG recognizes that our success is not solely defined in financial terms. Our purpose, to inspire confidence and empower change, defines a broader societal contribution that encompasses not just our own ESG commitments but the contribution we make to the future of the accounting profession.
This Global Public Affairs role represents an exciting opportunity to work as part of KPMG’s international organization, with an initial focus on the Americas and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMA) regions – to help deliver our Public Affairs priorities.
Role summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing our globally agreed Public Affairs priorities, which underpin our wider Corporate Affairs approach to shape, promote and protect KPMG’s reputation.
― Shape: by actively understanding the changing global and regional landscape in which KPMG operates and the stakeholder perspectives that shape that landscape, the incumbent will inform our Trust agenda. This manifests itself through supporting the development and roll-out of key public policy positions, coordinating discussions across our profession (industry voice), implementing relevant global protocols and supporting stakeholder engagement across our ESG commitments, as expressed through Our Impact Plan.
― Promote: from this position of credibility, you will support the roll-out and execution of compelling global content across the regions to engage all non-client external and internal audiences with whom we seek to build relationships of trust. In doing so, you will work with colleagues at global, regional, and national levels to amplify key go-to-market programs, connecting them to key enablement activity such as the amplification of our Purpose, Values and Brand.
― Protect: crucially, the role will ensure that there is a consistent and globally connected Public Affairs approach to manage and mitigate issues across our regions that may adversely affect KPMG’s reputation. This will mean ensuring that global issues management and geopolitical protocols are implemented to ensure that decisions in one country consider the unintended consequences in another. Responsibilities
― Executing against our Global Public Affairs plan, which leverages from, and supports, our overall Global Corporate Affairs strategy and approach.
Responsibilities
―Working with global leaders and key member firms to help map and engage non-client external stakeholders, such as business and trade organizations, professional bodies, multilaterals, NGOs, leading thought leaders, academics, analysts and alliance partners.
―Working with member firms to strengthen their own public affairs and public policy positions, leveraging best practice and experience from other parts of the KPMG network / largest eight KPMG firms.
―Ensuring a joined up Public Affairs approach / industry voice with key (to be agreed) multilaterals, working closely with member firms and existing global and regional teams.
―Taking a lead in managing relationships with global and regional think tanks and membership related bodies.
―Ensuring that KPMG’s public policy positions inform the decisions of our business leaders on sensitive matters and that the voices of external stakeholders are considered and engaged where necessary in our response.
―Supporting commercial business development opportunities by demonstrating KPMG insight, convening power and original thinking, with particular emphasis on providing a Public Affairs perspective to our flagship go-to-market campaigns and programs.
―Working to embed all our internal geopolitical and issues management protocols into member firm decision-making.
Key accountabilities
40% Managing a program of engagement with nonclient external stakeholders
