Job description
The Library is seeking to appoint a highly-organised team player who can also work independently to join our High Demand Team. The successful candidate will deliver on key Team activities which include supporting the daily delivery of the Inter-Library Loan service, Scan & Deliver service and digitising content required for Reading Lists. As our team operate across multiple sites, the role holder will also be expected to oversee other team members to ensure site-specific objectives are completed accurately and efficiently.
Other key attributes of the role are an understanding of how data can be used to shape, deliver and improve services so developing a sound understanding of the Library Management System, relevant bibliographic standards and the Library of Congress classification scheme will be needed.
All members of the Team are expected to take a flexible and positive approach to their work, and the role holder, although working primarily within the High Demand Team, will be asked to undertake a range of duties across the Digital Systems & Resources Unit as and when the need arises. Other typical tasks include delivering the daily recall service from the Walter Bower House Library, evaluating donations and stock inventories. At times tasks can be physically demanding.
You will have a good general education to Scottish Higher Level or equivalent, be an effective communicator with a team-player attitude who takes an organised approach to their work to ensure daily service deliveries are met effectively and efficiently.
This is a part-time (18.125hrs per week / 0.5 FTE, Mon-Fri afternoons, with the possibility of some weekend working) fixed-term contract, starting as soon as possible and ending on 8th March 2024.
