Job description
We are looking to recruit part time Senior Library Assistants to work at our Community Libraries in Knowle and Dickens Heath.
The focus of Solihull libraries has really changed and we now serve as multi-media information hubs for the whole community. As a Senior Library Assistant you will be at the forefront of delivering and promoting a range of services to customers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
You will be involved in dealing with enquiries, assisting customers with using digital technology and delivering library based activities. You will also be responsible for supervising small numbers of staff.
To be successful in the role you will ideally have previous public library experience but more importantly it will be your significant face-to-face customer service experience that will set you apart. You will also be able to
- demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the role that libraries play in the community;
- work effectively in a team environment;
- use your initiative and problem solving skills to respond to complex customer enquiries;
- demonstrate experience and confidence in using Information and digital technology;
- deliver activities to a range of customers including children and young people;
- Work Saturdays and have a flexible approach to working hours and location.
Although these posts are based at Knowle and Dickens Heath Libraries you will be required to work at other Solihull Libraries across the borough in order to fulfil the needs of the service.

Salary: £22,777.00-£25,409.00 per year
