The UK’s flagship morning news show, the BBC Today Programme, is growing its digital team. We’re looking for an experienced digital journalist to lead our online and social strategy. You’ll be responsible for growing one of the biggest news brands in the UK and introducing it to new audiences.
Main ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Digital Journalist working with the Today programme you will be:
- Making, editing and posting video content across a range of social media platforms under very tight time pressure
- Writing and editing online copy in a fast-paced news environment
- Exercising strong editorial judgement to spot news lines from Today output, meet tight deadlines and maintain the highest editorial standards
- Producing a wide range of creative ideas to engage audiences across different social media platforms and a strategy to grow our presence digitally
- Working closely with the senior leaders and presenters on Today, as well as developing strong relationships across BBC News and Radio 4
You will have:
- Extremely strong editorial judgement, as well as a very high standard of writing ability and production skills
- Expertise in shooting and video editing, including experience working in Premiere Pro
- Experience editing online news copy for a national news organisation
- A strong track record of growing a news brand on social media, including in-depth understanding of social analytics and experience at developing a long-term strategy to reach target audiences
- An eye for stories and formats that perform well on different platforms
- An ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and be able to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced newsroom
