The team ITV’s Content Supply Technology department is a key group within ITV’s Technology division that is responsible for the technology platforms, engineering and products that enable us to deliver ITVs famous and popular content from its multiple sources to our online platforms, to our B2B partners and to ITV’s family of linear TV channels. The Catalogue Management team are responsible for ITVs Content Catalogue, ITV’s source of truth for content identification and metadata information for all content that ITV commissions, acquires, produces and distributes. You'll be involved in making sure our catalogue services are scalable and serve the ever increasing demands of our streaming and broadcast services. The role Senior engineers are experienced practitioners providing expertise in both software development and their domain. They will be tasked with the design and implementation of new systems and features, as well as modify and maintain existing systems for adaptation to business and/or technology changes. To be successful as a senior software engineer, you should be able to drive software change and assist with the overall maturity of the software development lifecycle. A top-notch senior software engineer will ensure that software deliverables comply with quality standards and are completed on time. Ultimately, your goal will be to develop and maintain functional, secure and high-quality applications that are aligned with user needs and business goals. Key Responsibilities Serve as a technical lead contributing to and directing the efforts of development teams, including internal and external team members. Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the existing portfolio of applications and services for content supply. Work closely with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and product managers to design, test, and iterate on solutions as required by the business teams. Mentor Software Engineers to allow for skill/knowledge development through advice, coaching, and training opportunities. Ability to communicate, rationalise and explain technology decisions and options to non-technical audiences. Work with engineering managers to aid in the growth and development of the content supply engineering function into a high performing area of excellence. Ensuring applications are supported by comprehensive documentation, and provide input for other technical documents. Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria) Extensive Java software engineer experience Experience of using the Spring framework in production code Strong design and coding skills (SOLID principles, OO principles) Demonstrable experience of ability to pick up new tech Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills Good delegation and time management skills Familiarity with large system software design and development Understand the value of continuous integration, continuous delivery and strives for a high level of automation Experience of building and maintaining quality, standardised, RESTful APIs, and a good knowledge of Microservices architecture Experience working with Agile development processes A true team player mindset with a continuous learning and knowledge sharing spirit Knowledge of testing techniques and strategies Experience or interest in Infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code Other things we’re looking for (key criteria) Additional skills or willingness to learn the following: GraphQL experience or NoSQL / MongoDB / DocumentDB Full stack development experience Big data / data analysis / data modelling Working knowledge of Node / Javascript ITV is for everyone.
