The Role & Responsibilities
Senior specialist insurance role to manage all insurance activities undertaken by the Bank across central and 1st line teams.
Implementation and ongoing ownership of insurable risk framework.
- Implementation and ongoing ownership of insurable risk framework including (i) managing improvement/transformation project, (ii) creating and managing staff insurance handbooks and improving wider awareness and ownership; (iii) ongoing staff training, (iv) governance including regular reporting on insurance matters to group risk committee and (v) liaison with wider Risk community and integration of insurance into the Risk Management Framework
- Documenting and managing key insurance requirements in policies and procedures, including in relation to the identification and notification of insurable risk events
- Managing the insurance renewal process, including purchasing insurance for Financial Lines, General Lines and Cyber, benchmarking, review of coverage terms, insurable risk gap analysis and completing associated governance formalities
- Claims management, including the creation and maintenance of a claims database for Shawbrook to log and monitor insurance claims and assisting with claims investigation and reporting as required. Including submissions and updates to brokers and insurers
- Improving the quality of risk exposure information to inform insurance placements
- Discussing emerging risks with the business to capture future insurable risks and liaise with wider Risk Management community
- Communicating insurer risk control requirements to relevant Shawbrook teams and discussing further potential mitigations of interest to insurers
- Insurer and Broker relationship management and tenders
- Building suitable tools that allow the regular monitoring of risk profile vs insurance coverage
The Person
- The candidate will have strong post-qualification experience working at an insurer, insurance broker or an in-house team at a bank or company working in insurance purchasing and management
- Familiarity with mature / sophisticated insurance processes and policies is essential
- Knowledge of and experience reviewing insurance contracts, industry / market knowledge of the insurance sector generally
- Experience working with or in the financial services/banking sector is a benefit
- DipCII (Diploma in Insurance) or equivalent
- Excellent skills in synthesising and summarising complex information and communicating key points to the wider team
- Ability to make recommendations and present finding to various committees
- Establishes effective working relationships at all levels with colleagues and stakeholders
- Empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view
- High levels of professional and personal integrity
- Part time position – 3 days per week
- Hybrid working arrangement with at least 1 day a week in the office
