Our Exciting Opportunity
The Infrastructure Operations Team is responsible for maintaining and supporting the global network, storage, and compute infrastructure across all sites, ensuring we deliver an outstanding service for our customers.
This is a permanent position with a hybrid working model of 2 days per week in the London office.
This influential role will work with the Global Head of Infrastructure Operations and will be responsible for maintaining the stability of all Microsoft/VMware/compute infrastructure globally. The environment is diverse and complex with a mix of both current and legacy platforms and as such you will take ownership for several global services where you will promote team working, ensure good communication and prioritise engineering decisions; ensuring all standards, SLA’s & requirements are met for the business, resulting in high levels of customer satisfaction.
This represents a superb opportunity for a skilled Infrastructure platform engineer who wishes to become an Operations Leader.
What you will do:
- Take ownership & responsibility for the operational management & technical leadership of the Microsoft, VMware & Compute (UCS/HPE/Dell) Infrastructure across all global sites. Main focus is the Microsoft platforms.
- Collaborate with the local country Operations teams, the wider IT team, 3rd party vendors and other non-technical staff
- Ensure all aspects of Vulnerability and Life Cycle Management are planned and delivered on a continual basis for the Global VMware estate.
- Champion a continuous improvement approach throughout the team. Recommend, design, and deliver service reliability and efficiency improvements to eliminate outages, single points of failure and enhance service delivery.
- Develop and apply global operational strategy, processes, documentation and policies, implement locally & lead change. Work multi-functionally with other Infrastructure and technology teams across the organisation
- Lead, develop & mentor the offshore lvl2 team. Provide lvl3 escalation path & guidance and ensure they implement your technical plans
- Act as an emergency 24x7 point of contact for critical incidents/problems
You will bring:
- Experience and knowledge of core Microsoft/VMware/compute technology, administration methodology and operational processes to MCSE(2019) & VCP7 level.
- Technical leadership abilities: leading by example, with a track record of excellent infrastructure platforms management at a global level and the ability to work within a matrix organisation
- Good communication skills, including effective presentation of technical subjects to diverse audiences and 3PP relationship management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- The ability to prioritise multiple responsibilities with an appreciation and understanding of the ITIL framework
- Extensive experience in root cause analysis in complex system and network infrastructures and owning incidents/problems through to resolution.
