Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading international climate NGO working with multinational businesses and governments to accelerate climate action globally. Climate Group is looking for a Senior HR Officer to join its small but busy HR team in their London office.
This role will suit someone who has experience in a fast-paced environment, and is confident in supporting the HR Managers on all areas of HR. You should be proactive and organised, with great attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

About the role
We are looking for an experienced HR Officer to support two HR Managers in the daily running of the HR team. This is a truly generalist HR role where no two days are the same. You must be an excellent communicator with integrity, discretion, and ability to develop trust with all staff and managers.
You will be someone who enjoys the variety of a generalist HR function. You will be a self-motivated person and able to handle a busy to do list as well as project work. You will take ownership of HR administration and will support the delivery of key projects, reporting into the HR lead on each. This is a role where you will have the opportunity to bring your ideas to make a difference and to deepen your experience within a supportive, forward-thinking team.
Your duties will include, although not be limited to:
Employee support:
- Being the first point of contact for all day-to-day HR administration enquiries
- Deal with any queries from employees on staff issues and elevate to HR Managers or appropriate line manager if required
Maintenance of HR information and systems, payroll:
- Prepare and issue any contract updates for existing staff when required (salary change, promotion, flexitime, maternity and paternity leave etc.)
- Work with outsourced payroll provider to deliver monthly UK payroll and liaise with benefit providers on any employee changes (new joiners, leavers, change of address etc.)
- Monitor the use of HR software to manage all staff information, documents, holidays, TOIL and reconcile with timesheets for part-time staff
- Compiling regular HR reports and maintain HR trackers and other organisation documents (e.g., FTCs, buddy log, newsletters etc.)
- Keep HR documents on SharePoint up to date
Recruitment and onboarding:
- Support recruitment activities including the process of advertising and providing guidance and support to hiring managers
- Issue offer packs and contracts of employment to new employees
- Carry out employment checks (right to work, references)
- Coordinate and support onboarding activities (HR induction, buddy scheme)
Other responsibilities:
- Help coordinate Learning and Development initiatives
- Coordinate and carry out offboarding activities (exit interviews)
- Support with finance enquiries (e.g., audit)
- Any other ad hoc activities and research
About you
Essential:
- Proven experience in a generalist HR officer role and being the first point of contact for general HR queries: recruitment, pay and benefits, learning and development, etc.
- Excellent organisational skills with a methodical approach to working towards multiple deadlines with attention to detail
- Experience in coordinating recruitment processes
- Experience with payroll preparation and processing
- Experience with administration of the full employee life cycle
- Experience in compiling data reports
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
- The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with a high level of judgement and discretion
Desirable:
- Experience in using People HR system
- Experience in coordinating learning and development plans
- CIPD accredited
- Up to date knowledge of employment law
- International HR experience

Youll be based in our London head office near Tower Bridge (SE1 2NQ), a 12-minute walk from London Bridge station and enjoy the benefits of flexible and hybrid working: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

This is a full-time, fixed-term maternity cover contract for 14 months starting in June 2023. The salary offered is £29,670 - £36,260 per annum, based on experience.
