Job description
The Senior Higher Education Consultant role will be based in London, or working remotely in a UK location, focusing on providing strategic consultancy services to clients globally. This would involve, for example, delivering university rankings-based consultancies to individual universities, conducting primary research for thought leadership reports sponsored by commercial partners (and writing those reports), working on projects to provide national-level insights to higher education ministries, and assisting the THE sales team in responding to client briefs. The role demands entrepreneurial spirit and the flexibility and willingness to contribute to delivery in all global regions.

Our consultancy division complements our team of data science experts, providing advisory services to support higher education institutions’ strategic development. We are a global business with a global reputation for excellence, looking for an exceptional and highly motivated Senior Higher Education Consultant to join our growing, talented and ambitious team.
Core responsibilities
The Senior Higher Education Consultant will be responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of consultancy projects. Specifically, this person will:
- Liaise with internal world-wide sales team and external clients to define client requirements
- Collect and analyse relevant data, identify narratives and formulate practical and impactful solutions relating to clients’ strategic needs
- Present findings and recommendations to clients globally (usually in presentation format, but also in written reports where necessary)
- Manage and conduct primary research (quantitative and qualitative) for projects with bespoke data requirements, including for thought leadership reports
- Maintain a detailed understanding of THE data and rankings methodology
- Contribute to Consultancy team strategy, business and product development
- Contribute to THE Summit series and Forum events
Experience and Skills Required
Essential
- Track record of project management and successful delivery of data-led projects, ideally involving use of several data sources.
- Demonstrated success in presenting complex data clearly and accurately in both verbal and written formats, with a keen eye for data visualisation in creating presentation slides
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with various internal stakeholders and external clients (including senior stakeholders from academia, government and industry)
- Confident and independent self-starter who is able to hit the ground running; comfortable working within teams as well as being able to work effectively autonomously
- Ability to work to agreed deadlines, working well under pressure, with excellent planning and organisational skills in order to manage and prioritise own workload
- Critical thinking skills with strengths in quantitative and/or qualitative data collection and analysis
- Passionate about the role of higher education
- Strong MS Office skills – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Educated to at least undergraduate level, or equivalent work-based experience
Desirable
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of global higher education sectors, and government policies for higher education
- Familiarity with statistical analysis software and data visualisation tools
