We are looking for an experienced Senior Health, Safety and Environment Advisor to provide knowledge and guidance to our 3000 strong Engineering function within British Airways. Our Engineering function looks after the maintenance of our fleet of aircraft working in our hangar, workshops and ramp/terminal and warehouse environments. The diverse nature of our Engineering operations means you would deal with a wide range of HS&E hazards and compliance requirements.
The Role
You will work alongside some of the finest professionals in the industry. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our Engineers working on our fleet of aircraft and ensuring that we operate in the most sustainable way possible. Put simply, you’ll help ensure the safety of our Engineers, who in turn keep millions of passengers safe in the air.
You’ll be responsible for implementing the company health, safety & environmental management system through proactive engagement with all stakeholders. You’ll be driven to maintain full compliance by conducting risk assessments, developing safe systems of work, carrying out internal audits and investigations, publishing EHS reports and validating improvement actions.
Your experience will include dealing with regulatory agencies, like the HSE, Environment Agency and the Civil Aviation Authority. You will have proven experience in a similar senior role, ideally with an engineering or industrial environment. We are looking for an expert that can add value through maintaining and improving our policies, systems and ways of working, principally at LHR and LGW but also includes other UK and worldwide sites.
What we are looking for
This is a role that will call upon your impressive leadership, collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills. You’ll bring to the role impressive credentials including investigation experience, regulatory audit experience and complex risk assessment.
You will bring your expertise in health, safety and environmental standards as well as a strong eye for business and be willing to gain a detailed understanding of BA’s processes, procedures and regulatory requirements. Gaining further skills and qualifications required for the role. With a strong technical knowledge of legislation, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation of health, safety and environmental compliance and policy across the Engineering directorate. Working collaboratively across internal departments and with external stakeholders to execute best practice health, safety management, you will also drive environmental compliance policy and supporting owning departments in the delivery thereof.
It is essential that you hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and Environmental qualifications at Level 5 for this role. You will also be an active member of professional bodies, e.g. IOSH, IEMA.
