To empower our people to focus more on insight, collaboration, and commerciality, we are placing new specialised lead roles within our Business Partnering teams, and refocusing the efforts of our core business partners. This refocusing is being accompanied by a renewed investment in technologies to drive our ways of working forward, freeing up time to let our people focus more on providing insights to people in the business, driving our growth agenda, and working together to solve complex challenges. We have invested in the capabilities of our business partners, in order to elevate their ability to provide analysis and insight to our leaders - they will be working closely to deliver crucial information to engagement leaders, the Finance Director, the COO, and the Executive. Operate is a PwC business which partners with the lines of service in delivering maximum value to clients, particularly in the area of Execution Managed Services. It does this using a combination of its own skilled resources and alternative delivery methods.

The Finance Leader is the business's first port of call for business decision support and strategic insight. The Finance Leader works closely with the Operate business leadership in our services and clusters, and throughout the wider business to help the Service Tower leaders maximise their financial and strategic outcomes. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this is a collaborative and engaging role, and a vital function to the business.

The individual in this role will provide commercially focused insight and analysis to our business leaders to drive the firm’s financial strategy, participating in leadership meetings to provide support, and where appropriate, challenge the business from a financial perspective.

This role will work closely with the Strategy & Planning specialist and the Operate Financial Control & Investment Lead and communicate with the firm’s Centres of Excellence regularly for escalated matters.

The right individual will draw upon technical knowledge and experience, commercial insights, and interpersonal skills to drive, influence, and challenge the business to achieve short and long term financial objectives.

Further responsibilities of the role include:

  • Drive and challenge business performance through analysis, presentation and commentary of financial information to senior decision makers

  • Work proactively with Service Tower Operation leaders and resourcing to highlight risks and opportunities to financial performance and develop actions to mitigate, correct or exploit as appropriate with senior decision makers

    • Discuss forward looking and actionable financial insights that sustain market share, support growth and maximise profitability

    • Support the business area in robust short/medium term forecasting as well as ensuring business engagement and ownership of the annual planning cycle

    • Proactively identify opportunities (from either existing or new analysis) for improved performance and develop potential solutions with senior decision makers to drive financial performance

    • Challenge strategic plan for business area (ambition, viability, alignment to financial plan), modelling planning scenarios to support as appropriate

    • Provide commercially focused review of strategic plan that helps business leaders set appropriate performance targets, backed up by action plans

    • Ensure alignment of top down targets to operational plans

    • Support the business in collaboration with the Operate Financial Control & Investment Lead in understanding the commercial impact of planned investments and subsequent ROI measurement following implementation.

    • Supporting the Finance Director in defining overall team direction and Strategy for the Finance function


    Essential Skills

    • Commercially minded with a deep business understanding

    • Strong analytical skills

    • A relevant professional qualification is essential (CA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA).

    • A Strong relationship builder who builds trust in their stakeholders

    • Ability to communicate with impact and empathy - both written and verbal

    • Focused on continuous improvement and has a technology enabled mindset working collaboratively with our Planning & Reporting CoE to provide innovation relevant to the business.
