Senior Finance Assistant

Role Overview and Key Responsibilities
The Senior Finance Assistant will assist with day-to-day finance tasks, managing a portfolio of tasks. In addition to accounting entry and accounting reconciliations you will also participate in ad hoc projects, including financial reporting, process improvement and working with the finance system.
Key responsibilities include
- Using systems to record financial data
- Perform and streamline our bank reconciliations
- Working closely with our Senior Credit Controller by tracking our billings and invoicing & assisting with debt collection
- Assist the Finance Manager in the production of monthly reporting & payroll
- Daily cash reconciliation
- Factoring reconciliation
- Participate in new software implementation
- Manage purchase ledger invoices & support on accounts inbox queries

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Professional accounting standards - Basic:
- Demonstrate awareness and knowledge of the professional accounting standards.
- Apply those principles to accurately record financial transactions and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
Transactional accounting and closing processes - Basic:
- Perform all activities within the receivables process; calculate non-complex provisions using appropriate methods; identify risks of bad debts.
- Perform all activities within the payables process.
- Perform month-end close activities and provide accurate and timely financial submissions.
- Reconcile sub-ledgers to general ledger and perform other related account reconciliations; evaluate accounts for legitimacy and balance substantiation.
- Understand the different components and interdependencies of the organisation’s chart of accounts.
Financial reporting and compliance - Basic:
- Understand and describe the main elements of financial statements and reports.
- Understand general compliance requirements and provide accurate and timely financial submissions.
Essential qualifications and registrations
There are no essential qualifications or registrations required for this role other than relevant experience however it is desirable that the Senior Finance Assistant is qualified in AAT or is studying towards an accounting qualification, and has experience with credit control & payroll.
