The post holder will work with the Business Director & Senior Business Director to develop an exciting digital content strategy that supports the commercial goals of both brands and to be responsible and accountable for driving the global online audience development and engagement for C&IT through content sites, lead generation, newsletters and live events.
For HSEI they will work with the existing editorial and marketing team, who are based on the South Coast of England, as the digital content strategy is rolled out, demonstrating excellent leadership, collaboration and editorial decision-making at all times. And they will support the Business Director in ensuring both brands’ individual visions are adhered to, communicated correctly and delivered in line with plans.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Work collaboratively with the Business Director and wider teams to develop a long-term digital content plan that has audience engagement, monitisation and growth at its heart.
Develop a plan that produces content for the three brands in a range of formats, including newsletters and social. Longer term assess the potential for new channels such as podcasts, social media and video to grow audience reach and engagement in line with the commercial plans.
Hold the accountability for the growth of registered users, highly engaged users, and newsletter recipients across the three brands, plus other audience metrics that the company may wish to focus on in the future.
Work on an ongoing basis with the Business Director to analyse audience engagement with content via the HBM dashboards and ensure the wider editorial team are trained, engaged and understand these metrics themselves.
Conceive of, develop, and produce new, rich, innovative digital story ideas and concepts for a variety of media platforms that help extend the brand’s reach and engagement.
Oversee the digital development of both brands, alongside the Business Director, to ensure all digital editorial products and commercial products are market leading.
Manage the digital editorial budget, working with the Business Director to ensure cost control.
Provide the support required by the brands to execute all client-led lead generation campaigns. This will involve, but not limited to, the production of written promotional content articles and moderating / chairing digital events.
Attend relevant events within the UK and overseas to ensure the digital content is meeting the needs of the brands’ key digital audience groups. And extend the reach of the brands into new key digital audiences groups as and when required.
The HSEI/C&IT Senior Editor should be the driving force of the digital content operations. Where applicable, the post holder should moderate and host digital events, videos, roundtable discussions, and webinars.
The Senior Editor should work closely with the C&IT Editor & Business Director to deliver a robust global expansion plan, developing its global content reach.
Maintain solid market awareness in order to identify new opportunities in which to expand both brands’ scope and public awareness.
Stay ahead of industry trends and own the development of thought leadership.
On a regular basis, liaise with commercial teams to ensure goals are aligned.
Demonstrate extensive knowledge of current editorial processes and best practices, sharing information across the brands and HBM.
Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the post.
Manage and maintain copyright and intellectual properties for all content.
Key Requirements
Significant experience in leading a successful digital editorial program for a complex organisation.
Demonstrable leadership and team management experience.
Ability and willingness to collaborate closely with other teams and departments across HBM.
Demonstrable experience and understanding of how to work closely with commercial teams to deliver against commercial objectives
Demonstrable experience in the management of financial resources, budgetary planning, and prioritisation of projects, editorial production and activities.
Ability to apply discretion and judgement in evaluating implications of publication and information release to internal and external audiences.
A proven ability in meeting deadlines and working calmly under pressure.
Strong leader and hands-on editorial manager.
Fostering and developing a productive and efficient working environment.
Excellent ability to build and nurture relationships both with internal and external stakeholders
