As part of the Scottish Government's expansion for Early Years, this is a fantastic opportunity to secure a Senior Early Childhood Practitioner role within Perth & Kinross Council. The post is whole year working.

Our aim is to provide child-centred Early Learning and Childcare (aged 2-5 years) which reflects and responds to the individual needs of all children and families.

You will assist in the organisation and management of the service for the benefit of all children, families and the wider community.

You must be able to work on your own initiative and as a team member who directly contributes to and supports colleagues in the development of a flexible childcare and early education service, which is appropriate to the needs of young children and their families in the centre and its surrounding community, within the context of both authority and Nursery policies and procedures.

The Senior Early Childhood Practitioner (SECP) will provide effective management support to the Centre Leader and Principal ECP and take a lead role in all aspects of children’s early education and childcare as required and directed by the Centre Leader.

The Senior ECP will assist in the organisation and management of the Nursery to ensure high quality care and education for children.

We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our Nursery team and contribute to maintaining the school's high standards at centre and whole school level.

Riverside Primary School, one of the First Passivhaus Primary Schools in Scotland, opens on June 13 2023 ready for two of our schools to merge, Balhousie Primary School and North Muirton Primary School.

The Individual

You must have SNNB/HNC/SVQ 3 in Childcare/Education or equivalent and be able to evidence additional studies e.g., PDA or modules from a relevant degree and have a commitment to work towards a qualification to allow registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as a Lead Practitioner e.g. BA Childhood Practice within SSSC timescales.

You must be able to work on your own initiative and as a team member who directly contributes to and supports colleagues in the development of a flexible childcare and early education service, which is appropriate to the needs of young children and their families in the centre and its surrounding community, within the context of both authority and Nursery policies and procedures.

This Senior Childhood Practitioner post will be required to work 50 weeks of the year. 50-week settings are closed for 2 weeks at Christmas. You may also be required to work alternating shift patterns to meet the needs of the operational hours of the Nursery and in agreement with the Centre Leader.

If you would like any more information regarding this vacancy, please contact Wendy Taylor, Centre Leader, on 01738 474196.

When completing your application for this post, please ensure that you provide contact details (including e-mail addresses) for two referees. One should be your current or most recent employer.

Please APPLY ONLINE. Facilities are available at all public libraries in Perth and Kinross. If you have a disability and require reasonable adjustments, please call 01738 475555 to discuss.
