The Scottish Qualifications Authority is Scotland’s national awarding and accreditation body. We are trusted to oversee thousands of qualifications that are available in schools, colleges and workplaces, not just in this country, but around the world.
We are looking for an Editorial Assistant to work in the Editorial Team in the Qualifications Development Directorate.
The successful candidate will support the team in a timely and efficient manner, help the team deliver documents that explain SQA’s qualifications, and follow processes and guidance to ensure the quality and integrity of published output. To do this, you must be able to show you have experience in the following specific duties:
- Act as a team’s first point of contact and respond to queries.
- Provide general administrative support across team activities and processes.
- Plan and organise meetings — including booking rooms, preparing papers, taking notes and dealing with follow up actions.
You also must be able to show you have the following skills and experience:
- Track progress against timelines/schedules, highlight scheduling issues/conflicts and escalate slippages to help ensure the team meets its deadlines.
- Strong proofreading skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Word skills.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
Applicants, as a minimum, should be educated to SCQF level 8 or equivalent, or have relevant experience for this role. Also, you need to role model the behaviours associated with SQA’s values (Trusted, Progressive, and Enabling) to help develop and sustain a productive and positive culture.
