We are seeking to appoint a Senior Data Manager to join the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics. The WHG is a vibrant, enthusiastic, innovative and strategic enterprise in an internationally-leading position to make a real difference, not only to patients with neurodegenerative disease and at risk of these disorders, including Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and multiple sclerosis, in the future, but also to contributing significantly to basic knowledge of the disease processes, and to develop and apply research methods and experimental medicine approaches. You will play a key role in the IMCM by applying your skills and passion for informatics and data management to help identify the underlying mechanisms and translate this knowledge to knowledge into the development of new, prevision therapeutics.
You will work closely with senior members of the IMCM, including the Programme Manager and management team, be responsible for the flow of sample information, multi-modal datasets and their metadata within IMCM, acting as the point of contact for all matters related to data management. Identifying, defining and planning new projects which contribute to the overall aims of the IMCM and in particular data management. You will also be responsible for Develop and implement operational procedures that underpin Information Governance policies, working closely with the NDM & GSK IG teams.
It is essential that you hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Bioinformatics, Biochemistry or other related computational subject (or near to completion). You will also have significant proficiency in coding in either Python or R and other scripting languages. The ability to deliver high-calibre approaches as evidenced through a strong publication record in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and a high degree of ambition and self-motivation is essential for this role.
