The Vice-President External Engagement (VPEE) team delivers communications and marketing activity for UCL, working to ensure UCL’s public prominence, reputation and influence reflects the university’s excellence in knowledge creation, education, and innovation.
About the role
We are recruiting for a Senior Communications Officer to join us on a 12 month Fixed-Term Contract (Maternity Cover). The successful candidate will support the development and delivery of ongoing internal communications as part of the Communications team.The audience for these comms are mainly, but not exclusively, current students, staff and external stakeholders, and you will assist the Communications Managers to develop key messages and communications themes so that ongoing comms are delivered in a timely and digestible manner aligned with UCL’s strategy.
A large part of the role will consist of contributing to the development and delivery of internal communications, including copy for web, emails and other digital and printed materials, updating UCL webpages with new content and creating and sending internal communications via email marketing platforms, and more. You will also liaise with stakeholders across UCL, work with external designers and agencies to develop printed and digital collateral, assist in developing inclusive communications and support the wider VP External Engagement Team as necessary.
About you
To excel ion this role you must have experience of strategic communications, including responsibility for delivering projects and materials from concept to delivery and experience of developing and delivering communications for different audiences, including digital content and printed materials. Ideally, you will hold a Marketing or Communications qualification, or have demonstrable experience in the theory and practical implementation of demand-based marketing and/or communications.
You are a strong and clear communicator, with the ability to convey complex ideas and adapt your communications style to a range of audiences. You have excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to write with accuracy, clarity and concision and excellent attention to detail. As well as top-notch organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects at the same time, you are highly analytical, you use evidence and data to support your methods and you have the ability to present complex data in understandable ways to different stakeholder groups.
