About the role
We are seeking a senior civil engineer who wants the opportunity to apply their creative skills on challenging, high-profile projects in our stimulating, inter-disciplinary design studio in Bristol. You will have a unique opportunity to work on infrastructure designs (roads and drainage) associated with building and landscape projects. The position is to lead civil engineering the team within the Bristol studio, with the successful candidate assisting in the development and growth of the team.
About you
You will be an engineer with a strong academic record and 2 years post-charter experience gained working on challenging projects. You will be able to demonstrate excellent technical aptitude supplemented by outstanding IT skills. You will enjoy expressing creative ideas through sketching and will be able to communicate effectively to build firm working relationships with architects, engineers, clients, and contractors. You will demonstrate the ability to take the lead on technical issues and have a collaborative team-working style. You have ambition to develop yourself and your team.

Key responsibilities
The role will include, but not be limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Design of projects from the concept stage through to the construction stage
- Mentoring of junior team members
- Development of client relationships
- Assisting directors in seeking out and securing new opportunities
- Developing good relationships with professions across BDP
Your knowledge, experience, and education
You will have proven experience in a similar design consultancy, and preferably, experience of working on site as a site/resident engineer.
You will have a minimum of 2 years relevant post qualification (MICE) experience and good knowledge and experience of the following areas of civil engineering design:
- Drainage schemes associated with buildings, highways, public realm and landscape projects
- Highway and pavement design associated with building projects
- Undertaking of designs for section 38, 278 and 104 agreements
- Ground modelling
- Masterplanning
- Assessment of flood risk
You will have a good knowledge of civil engineering construction principles and standards
You will have strong practical knowledge of Civils 3D, PDS, AutoCAD and WINDES and be confident in your knowledge of relevant design standards and legislation.
