The role
The Safer Communities Service has a key role in developing the Safer Communities Service, which includes the following strands;
Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) - Community Engagement - Crime Reduction, which includes the management of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) & Community Safety - Licensing – Prevent - Statutory Nuisance - The Public Health response to Violence - Trading Standards - Violence Against Women & Girls (VAWG) - Violence Reduction
The Service is developing and growing and as a result, we have a number of exciting new opportunities.
- Safer Communities Service Senior CCTV Officer
The Safer Communities Service Senior CCTV Officer, will support the Safer Communities Service Anti-Social Behaviour & Statutory Nuisance Operational Manager and CCTV team to respond to the needs of our service users in a prompt and timely manner. They will manage the control room, managing enquiries for footage, performance data, supporting enforcement operations carried out by Council officers and Police officers. You will also respond to requests for the installation of CCTV cameras by both the public, council team and our partner organisations. You will require a good understanding of the appropriate legislation and current best practices with CCTV.
You will liaise with the Councils maintenance contractor to ensure that repairs and maintenance work is being carried out in compliance with terms of the contract. You will need to have good technical knowledge of IP base public space CCTV systems, including a basic understanding of wireless IP Networks, switching, recording and cameras. You will work with the Council’s Planners to assist in designing Public Space CCTV system for new developments. You will oversee the technical aspects of these system with the support of the CCTV Manager. You will also be required to oversee the management of monitoring contract. Therefore, you will need experience of contract management.
Location
Whilst the service is primarily based at our Eros House Office in Catford, SE6 we operate a hybrid approach whereby you may be required to work both in the office and from home as determined by service requirements.
What we’re looking for

The successful candidate will have a knowledge of Public Space CCTV, a technical understanding of public space CCTV systems and an understanding of the laws, which cover the disclosure of CCTV footage. Good written and verbal communications skills is paramount and you will need to be able to manage your own workload and assist with supporting cases involving anti-social behaviour. This role requires someone to be flexible and adapt quickly to new situations and be solution focused.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate effective prioritisation of workload in a high-pressure environment as well as great attention to detail.
The successful candidate will have a good technical understanding of how an IP public space CCTV system works, you will be able to engage with our installers to advise them as to how the network will expand, what equipment should be used to replace old or failing kit. You will need the knowledge to allow you to understand if a proposed design is suitable for the Councils needs and can be incorporated into our current network.

Salary details
£43,701 - £45,711 per annum (PO3)
N.B: All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
