About the Role

Lockheed Martin has an exciting and challenging new opportunity for a Business Development Principle to drive sustainable growth within Lockheed Martin’s Space activities in the UK. This role will represent the Lockheed Martin’s UK Space portfolio of capabilities and services to ensure we speak with ‘one voice’.

As a member of the Global Business team, this role will be a primary interface between Space Lines of Business (LOB), Mission Strategy Architecture & Growth (MSAG), Space Multi-Functional Organizations (MFOs), and Lockheed Martin Global Business Development & Strategy’s International team for the UK, to build relationships with our various customers and across the business, share industry knowledge to ensure the common goal of Lockheed Martin growth and success is achieved.

This is an exciting opportunity to become a key influencer within Lockheed Martin, to build and grow Lockheed Martin’s future Space business for the UK. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Input into the Lockheed Martin Space growth strategies, proving inputs for the UK;
  • Building and maintaining relationships with Senior Government, Military, Civil Space and Industry thought leaders and decision makers;
  • Delivering actionable market, environment and competitive intelligence;
  • Work in partnership with Space LOBs and MSAGs, to deliver regional order commitments;
  • Maintaining a detailed awareness of local Identifying organic/inorganic growth options;
  • Managing assigned resources, to include consultants/contractors;
  • Coordinating with GBD&S International, Space LOB, MSAGs, MFOs and other BA staffs;

Required skills, qualifications and experience

  • Strong demonstrable experience in the space domain – government and/or commercial industry
  • Detailed understanding of the UK Space Industry – civil, commercial, academia, think-tanks.
  • Current network across Senior Government, Military, Civil Space and Industry thought Leaders and decision makers including the European Space Agency.
  • Business Development background with an understanding of program lifecycle.
  • Be analytical with the ability to translate market intelligence data.
  • Develop local capabilities by recruiting / retaining local staff.
  • Build internal and external senior relationships.
