Job summary
Acas is at an exciting time as we change our structure, ways of working and culture to be fit for the future.
The role involves understanding and analysing user and business needs to ensure that work on projects and their outcomes are aligned to service visions and business strategy. The role will also require the post holder to challenge constructively and act as a critical friend to achieve solutions that are fit for purpose and to be able to facilitate collaboration and lead effective communication with all stakeholders on projects to support the design, build and delivery to meet user needs. You will provide Business Analyst expertise where required to technical projects across Acas.
The role will involve ensuring that business and user requirements are accurately gathered from user research and service design plans and reflected as user stories which are addressed by technical features within the new system. The post holder will be responsible for enhancing business requirements through the use of case model and process flow knowledge and will be expected to resolve contradictory business requirements as and when these arise between stakeholders. You will also have responsibility for devising appropriate acceptance criteria for requirements to ensure that technical solutions addressed to meet user stories are effectively deployed and are fit for purpose.

Collaboration– accountable for building effective relationships with stakeholders to understand business services and process, to become very familiar with the products and applications comprising the assigned line of business’ technology landscape.
Business documentation – accountable for developing and designing high quality business requirement documentation using modelling and process flow-diagrams, in order to support the effective and timely development of technical solutions.
Technical solutions – accountable for working with the Architecture and Technical teams, ensure that business service designs, user stories and requirements are translated effectively into technical solutions, achieving agreed business goals and service visions.
Improvement development – accountable for assessing and documenting business process and service issues and identify possible solutions or improvements.
Research – accountable for researching possible solutions to increase work efficiency, including innovative tooling or data science related outcomes.
Acceptance criteria – accountable for developing appropriate and robust acceptance criteria for effective technical solutions.
Managing and monitoring relationships with stakeholders. Communicate clearly and regularly, clarifying mutual needs and commitments through consultation and consideration of impacts whilst focusing on user needs. Resolving contradictory business requirements from a variety of business stakeholders within the organisation.

Person specification
Experience
Essential:
- Ability to demonstrate experience in the field of IT architecture, covering a wide range of activities, aligning to the technology, digital and data requirements of the role. This will include capturing and analysing business processes, data and needs, then translating these into technical solutions.
- Ability to demonstrate the creation of high-level business requirement documentation.
- Experience of research and timely delivery of innovative tooling and solutions to assist the development and improvement of business processes and issues.
- Ability to develop and execute test plans and test scripts for software applications, document expected results vs. actual results, and record software defects.
- Ability to investigate, analyse, visualise and articulate complex problems and concepts and make disciplined decisions based on available information.
- Experience of stakeholder relationship management.
